About KinneyMunro

What is KinneyMunro Wealth Advisors?

KinneyMunro Wealth Advisors is an independent wealth advisory firm headquartered in Wellesley, Massachusetts. Founded in March 2024 by Brian Kinney and Bill Munro, the firm provides personalized investment management and financial planning for individuals, families, and business owners.

Where are KinneyMunro's offices located?

Our headquarters is at 57 River Street, Suite 304, Wellesley, MA 02481. We also have an office at 100 Walnut Avenue, Suite 201, Clark, NJ 07066. You can reach us at (617) 224-9504.

Who founded KinneyMunro?

KinneyMunro was founded by Brian Kinney and Bill Munro. Brian spent nearly 30 years in financial services and banking, most recently as Chief Investment Officer at State Street, where he oversaw a global portfolio of more than $100 billion. Bill spent nearly three decades at JPMorgan, advising some of the largest institutional investors in the world and rising from the trading desk to executive director and senior relationship manager.

Who is on the KinneyMunro team?

Our team includes co-founders Brian Kinney and Bill Munro, along with Executive Managing Directors Joe Swirbalus and Jay Ahlbeck. Joe joined in September 2026 after a 30-year career in the financial markets, most of his time spent at JPMorgan in Boston. Through our relationship with Mariner, we can also bring in CFP® professionals, CPAs, and other specialists when your plan calls for it, with tax and legal advice provided by appropriately qualified professionals.

Are KinneyMunro advisors fiduciaries?

Yes. The advisors at KinneyMunro are fiduciaries to our clients, which means we are committed to acting in your best interest.

What is KinneyMunro's relationship with Mariner?

Investment advisory services are offered through Investment Adviser Representatives registered with Mariner Platform Solutions (MPS), an SEC-registered investment adviser. KinneyMunro Wealth Advisors is a separate business entity and is not owned, controlled by, or affiliated with MPS. Our relationship with Mariner gives our team access to experienced tax, trust, estate planning, investment, retirement planning, and insurance professionals, as well as IT, compliance, and operational support.

What makes KinneyMunro different?

Our founders spent decades managing and advising on portfolios for pensions, endowments, foundations, and other large institutions. We apply those same principles to individual and institutional portfolios, with a focus on low costs, liquidity, and tax awareness. We coordinate your investments with your financial, estate, and tax planning so every part of your plan works together.

Process Step 1

Our Services

What services does KinneyMunro offer?

We offer investment management, financial planning, tax planning, estate planning, risk management and insurance analysis, and business advisory services. We work with individuals, families, business owners, and institutions such as foundations and endowments.

How does KinneyMunro approach investment management?

We start by learning your goals, risk tolerance, and time horizon. From there, we build a portfolio diversified across asset classes such as cash, fixed income, and equities, using a mix of active and passive strategies. We review your portfolio regularly and make adjustments as your life and the markets change.

How does KinneyMunro help with taxes?

Tax efficiency is built into how we manage your investments. We work alongside your tax advisors and use strategies such as strategic asset allocation, direct indexing, targeted tax-loss harvesting, tax-deferred retirement accounts, and management of investment holding periods. Tax and estate strategies should be developed with qualified tax and legal professionals, and MPS does not provide tax or legal advice.

Can KinneyMunro help with estate planning?

Yes. We work with you and your attorneys on strategies designed to help transfer wealth efficiently and carry out your wishes. This can include reviewing trust documents, charitable planning and gifting strategies, generation-skipping wealth transfer strategies, and trusts designed for asset protection.

Does KinneyMunro offer insurance analysis?

Yes. Our team and insurance professionals can help you evaluate life, property and casualty, and
long-term care expense mitigation as part of your broader plan, including life insurance audits and asset and income protection strategies. Some advisors are licensed insurance agents and may be compensated for selling insurance products.

Does KinneyMunro work with business owners?

Yes. Many business owners do not know what their company is worth, which makes it hard to build a clear financial plan. We can help with business valuation, M&A transactions, buy-sell agreements, stock options and 409A valuations, and ESOPs. We also have access to a CEFEX-certified Mariner team that can help design and manage employer-sponsored retirement plans.

Does KinneyMunro work with foundations and endowments?

Yes. Our team has significant non-profit board experience and has spent most of our careers working with institutional investors. For foundations and endowments, we can help prepare or review an Investment Policy Statement, build and monitor the portfolio, and serve in an outsourced Chief Investment Officer role.

KM Circle: Multi-Generational Advice

What is KM Circle?

KM Circle is KinneyMunro’s multi-generational advisory approach. It extends our advisory relationship beyond the primary household to adult children, parents, grandparents, or other family members. One advisory team, one integrated view, and tailored guidance for every generation.

Who is KM Circle designed for?

KM Circle may be a fit for families where the core household is supporting adult children as they
build their financial lives, while also helping parents or grandparents with legacy, retirement
income, and long-term planning.

How does KM Circle handle each family member's information?

Each family member has their own individualized advisory relationship. Where appropriate, and only with client consent, KinneyMunro coordinates across those relationships to support broader family goals.
